get_new phone is a text-based role-playing piece that engages with the idea that much of our consumer technology (smartphones, laptops, etc.) is produced utilizing a "slave-labor" based manufacturing system based in China and with American companies making much of the profits.
The piece allows the user to explore a fictional Chinese electronics factory located in Chengdu, China.
The web-based interactive game is part of a larger installation piece where the game is played within a physical environment surrounded by representations of objects encountered within the game narrative.
